Fitness Memberships

In support of UNC Charlotte's wellness initiative, the University offers a variety of recreational opportunities to its employees. All permanent faculty or staff members are invited to purchase a membership to the James H. Barnhardt Student Activity Center, which houses additional recreation courts, climbing wall, fitness center, and a group fitness room. In addition, all permanent faculty and staff are invited to use the Belk Gymnasium recreational spaces including the swimming pool, locker rooms, and courts for racquetball, basketball, volleyball, squash, and badminton.

Memberships may be purchased in the Student Activity Center basement level check-in station. Memberships are non-refundable and will only be cancelled for separation from the Univeristy or instances determined extinuating by RFM staff.

  • $30 Gold Nugget Membership (fall or spring):  monthly membership available for students enrolled in less than three (3) credits hours
  • $46.50 Student Gold Membership (summer; one reduced rate valid for both summer sessions): available for current students not enrolled in summer but enrolled in upcoming fall

  • Must present UNC Charlotte ID  (with membership purchase) to access the facility
  • Must present valid UNC Charlotte ID to access the facility
Fee

Must purchase a SAC membership:

  • $300 Gold Membership (yearly): includes Recreation Courts, Climbing Wall, Indoor Track, Fitness Center, Group Fitness Classes w/ Water Aerobics
  • $200 Green Membership (yearly): includes Recreation Courts, Climbing Wall, Indoor Track, Fitness Center
  • $130 White Membership (yearly): includes Recreation Courts, Climbing Wall, Indoor Track, Group Fitness Classes w/ Water Aerobics
  • $20 Basic (spring or fall semester): includes Recreation Courts, Climbing Wall, Indoor Track
  • $30 Gold Nugget (monthly): includes Recreation Courts, Climbing Wall, Indoor Track, Fitness Center, Group Fitness Classes w/ Water Aerobics

  • Gold, Green & White Memberships expire one year from date of purchase

 Spouse/Partner 
  • Annual memberships available for purchase of equal or lesser value as sponsoring partner
  • Sponsoring partner must be present upon purchase of spouse/partner membership
    (after which spouse/partner can access the facility unaccompanied)
  • Spouse must present current dependent UNC Charlotte ID card or government-issued picture ID
  • If sponsoring partner becomes ineligible for privileges, spouse membership is also suspended
  • Domestic partner must file affidavit of domestic partnership with the Office of Human Resources before eligibility can be established.
  • Open to Spouses/Partners with any SAC membership for no additional fee
     
  • Belk Family membership available for purchase for $15/year per person for Spouse/Partner/Dependents (no SAC membership necessary) for facility use M-F after 5pm and weekends only.

  • University Affiliates with valid membership and proof of employment

    Examples include: member of group under contract by the University, operating from officed located on campus whose function is to service the university community (such as Chartwells)

Requirements
  • Must provide current UNC Charlotte ID card and written confirmation of employment to purchase membership
  • Must provide written projected employment termination date; facility privileges will not extend beyond that date
  • Must provide current UNC Charlotte ID card or a government issued photo ID
  • Access allowed M-F after 5:00 PM and weekends only
